Camden Market
THE CHALLENGE
Creating an industrial blackened steel finish externally posed a significant challenge due to the environmental conditions and the need for long-lasting durability. This finish not only needs to withstand weathering, UV exposure, and temperature fluctuations but also resist corrosion and maintain its aesthetic appeal. Achieving a consistent, industrial appearance without compromising the material’s structural integrity demands specialised finishes and preparation techniques.
THE SOLUTION
Working closely with the architect, Bradleys applied their SteelAge chemical blackening effect process which not only will combat the effects of exposure to the elements but also balance the desired aesthetic with the practical demands of outdoor use. It also met the challenge of allowing the process to be used over different substrates such as aluminium and mild steel. SteelAge is a significantly more controllable alternative to chemical blackening providing a durable and robust finish.
