Mendip Wharf

Mendip Wharf, Riverside Plaza, London

THE CHALLENGE

To provide a strong anti-corrosive durable coating that will withstand the adverse elements associated with riverside developments as well as contributing to the quality of living conditions and adding character to the building.

THE SOLUTION

The balustrade was coated with a pure zinc coating which is  applied by spraying to allow greater control over the depth and consistency of coating without runs or spikes. This formed a strong anti-corrosive barrier. The balustrade was then powder coated in white which, along with the combination of circular and angular balconies and the horizontal infill bars, all worked well with the building’s facades to create its own unique identity.

THE DETAIL

Mendip Court is part of the Riverside Plaza gated residential development in Battersea, a short walk from the York Gardens and Clapham Junction. Mendip Court is in a perfect location on the banks of the River Thames, with a communal courtyard as well as a wide walkway along the banks of the river and Clove Hitch Quay. Many of the apartments have their own private balconies or terraces, designed to extend out beyond the building, giving a greater field of view up and down the river.

28 YEARS LATER…..

Bradleys enjoy re-visiting historic projects from time to time and Mendip Court was one of those selected to visit in April 2024. As predicted, there were no signs of corrosion on the balustrade, only surface dirt in places which is to be expected as it has sat beside a river for over 28 years!
