Kings Cross R7

The Kings Cross R7 building, in Kings Cross north of Regent’s Canal, is a striking pink mixed-use office building that has targeted the BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating. It is the opposite side of Handyside Street to the famous Gasholder Park, Gasholder Triplets and Coal Drops Yard. R7, a short walk from the Kings Cross and St Pancras International stations, is easily accessible and tenants have the valued additional benefit of being neighbour to the attractive Lewis Cubitt Park.

The entrance colonnade leads from Handyside Street in to the welcoming seven-metre high public entrance lobby. Bradleys’ coated pink stair balustrades and dividing railings that are installed within R7, team well with the neutral shades of grey and white within the building. Bradleys also coated the balustrade for the gold staircase that leads up from a reception area, illuminated by a huge chandelier that appears to have rings hanging in mid-air!

The ‘staggered’ design of the infill bars on the balustrade adds a depth of subtle character to what could otherwise have been just a plain balustrade, a tribute to the considerable thought and interest paid to the design of every aspect of the building. Each floor of R7 has a terrace, on the ninth floor there is a large 6,000 sq ft communal roof terrace and the 10th floor has the additional privilege of a large private roof terrace. Bradleys coated the terrace balustrade, with the same ‘staggered’ infill design, from where tenants can enjoy extensive panoramic views across London.
